In the liturgical calendar, this is the final week of Advent. Advent means "coming" or "arrival". So it is no coincidence that the Christian season of Advent aligns with the Winter Solstice where we await the coming of light over darkness. Richard Rohr, a Franciscan priest, does a marvelous job explaining the theological significance of Advent. Check it out here if you are curious: https://cac.org/what-are-we-waiting-for-2021-12-19/

Many of us spend our lives waiting for something to happen. Patrick dreams of winning the lottery. I'm looking forward to the day I can retire. We want that special event to arrive or that special person to come into our lives. But what if we have it all backwards. Advent has already happened. What if the universe is waiting for us to wake up? What are you going to do about it?
