Love Incarnate: December 24 - 30

Have I mentioned my master’s degree is in theology? Sometimes I can’t help but talk about God. Incarnation simply means body and spirit, heaven and earth, history and eternity are forever united. Incarnation, embodiment, and life are all the same thing.

In the beginning in love, God poured themself into the emptiness and from that moment on, spirit and matter became forever joined. Celtic spirituality holds creation itself is the first revelation of God. Every blade of grass shines with the glory of the Creator. This season, the sun and the moon, geese and deer, barren trees and snow on the ground, call us back to the mystery of existence.

When the complexities of life are just too much to wrap my mind around, when I am emotionally spent, when right words and meaningful actions escape me, it is then that I sit still and gently place my hand on my heart. A simple touch reminds me that I am loved from even before I was born, the mystery of love surrounds me and dwells within me.

Practice

Sit in stillness and gently place your hand on your heart. Remember you are flesh and spirit, body and soul, heaven and earth. Touch the wonder of your own being. Be thankful for every cell. Love holds you.
