Welcome!

A mindfulness practice is like working out at the gym except you don't need to leave your house, you don't need weights or a rowing machine, you don't need a membership, and you probably won't sweat. If you have a mind, then you have all the equipment needed to begin a practice. Everything else is optional. Welcome!

The essence of mindfulness is to pay attention to the present moment and all that it holds. Learning to live in the present moment is how to wake up to life.

Each week, I'll offer a short reflection followed by a simple practice. Typically the reflections are based on my lived experience with meditation. Occasionally I offer a favorite poem or a few words of inspiration by others. The purpose of these weekly reflections is to prompt questions, provide guidance, and serve you on your particular journey. The practice piece suggests ways to put the reflection into action. It is the teacher in me assigning spiritual homework. If the weekly practice resonates with you then try it out; otherwise, substitute your own practice. For example, meditating for a few minutes, devotional reading, or taking a walk in nature, is always a good thing. The hope is that after 52 weeks of reflection and practice, you’ll develop deeper ways of being mindful.
