Day 4 - Cold Moon


During the months leading up to the Winter Solstice, almost all religions celebrate the triumph of light over darkness - Hanukkah, Diwali, Christmas. We hear stories of bright stars, heavenly angels, astrologers, cosmic battles, and miracles. Big things are happening in the universe. Tonight is no exception. This evening is the longest full moon of the year, also known as the Cold Moon. What are the heavens saying to you?


Learn about the moon and its names throughout the year.


Practice

Chuck is one of my favorite yoga teachers in the whole world. Every new and full moon he offers a 15 minute online meditation. I'll be listening in this evening. Let me know if you want to be invited. Here’s my abbreviated version.


If possible, find a quiet room filled with moonlight or light a candle.

Spend some time settling into the silence and become aware of your breath.

Either close your eyes or focus on the light of the moon or the candle with a soft gaze.

Imagine a moonlit path leading to a sacred building.

Stop and look at the door.

As you open the door, you realize this place is the inner chamber of your heart.

Maybe place your hand on your heart.

Take a few minutes to truly inhabit this place.

In this room you are surrounded by peace and love.


Now reflect on anything you want to leave behind in the shadows of 2021.

See yourself letting go.


Next, use your creative mind to see your intention for the future.

Think of it as a seed planted in your heart or a dream painted on a giant canvas.

Sense what it would feel like in your being for this intention to be fulfilled.

Breathe deeply and give this intention permission to become reality.

Release it into the light of the room where you are sitting.

Witness it shine with hope and promise.

In the days to come, know you can always return to this inner place

whenever you need.
