Day 9 - More Metta

Updated: Sep 10, 2022

No matter what you call it, we all need more of it.

Tara Brach says,

"Mindfulness and loving kindness are traditionally described as two wings of a bird.

With the wing of mindfulness, you develop the capacity to observe non-judgmentally

and allow things to be as they already are.

With the kindness wing, you cultivate a friendly and compassionate stance

toward what is happening.

And you need both wings to fly."

Practice Options:

  • Perform a random act of kindness or an intentional one.

  • Listen again to Sharon Salzberg's meditation from yesterday.

  • Listen to one of the first teachings and meditations I gave as a new teacher. During the first part I explain the metta practice and follow up by guiding a lovingkindness meditation (11 minutes).
