Grace: November 19 - 25

Grace and gratitude belong together like heaven and earth.

Grace evokes gratitude like the voice an echo.

Gratitude follows grace like thunder lightning.

Karl Barth

I do not understand the mystery of grace -- only that it meets us where we are and does not leave us where it found us.

As mentioned before, life, the earth, the sun, air, and water are undeserved gifts simply bestowed on us. The theological word for unmerited gifts is grace. Each new day when the sun shines and we draw a new breath, we are surrounded by grace.

Gratitude is the natural response to grace.

Practice

Continue a gratitude practice. Reflect on your day and write down three things for which you are grateful. Record these in a journal or share via email or text with a friend or two. Write them on a slip of paper and keep in a jar. Pick any method that works for you.
