Happy Place: July 16 - 22


It is no secret that the beach is my happy place. Maybe because some part of my subconscious remembers the first 9 months of life in my mother's womb. Maybe because I grew up on the shore of Lake Ontario. Maybe because of childhood memories searching for sea glass and seashells along the water's edge. Maybe because I found refuge at the ocean during COVID. Probably for all of these reasons and more.


Here's an excerpt from a news article in Today:

Recent research suggests there really are benefits to being near water, or in what experts call "blue spaces." For instance, a study published in July in Scientific Reports found that people who lived near blue spaces had lower risks for mental health issues.



Practice


Boost your mental health and spend some time in nature. Mountains, forests, lakes, and oceans all count. If you can’t actually be there in person, search Google for guided meditations and photo galleries. Search your memory for special moments. Do whatever it takes to experience your happy place.
