Held: October 4 - 10

I love holding my grandson, Sage. Sometimes he looks in my eyes and smiles. Sometimes he grabs my beard. He is quite the snuggler. But my favorite is the little sigh he makes as he settles against my chest when he falls asleep, such a tender moment of trust and contentment. My love enfolds him like a blanket.
Sometimes you just need to be held whether you are 7 months old or 77 years old. No matter how grown up we think we are, we're never really in control of life. We never outgrow our need for each other. This week I'm especially grateful for all of the people throughout my life who have held and loved me. The older I get, the more I understand we are in this all together. May all of us grow in wisdom and kindness.
Practice
Find a quiet, safe spot where you won't be disturbed. Take a moment to release any burdens weighing you down and receive the gift of this day. Imagine you can see the faces of all the people you hold in your heart. Take the time to notice each one and maybe whisper their names. Now imagine you can see the faces of family and friends who have held you in their hearts through the years. Whisper their names as well. Allow these twin circles of love to enfold you like a blanket.
Repeat these phrases of lovingkindness, blessing all those you have called to mind.
May we be safe and protected.
May we be happy and peaceful.
May we be healthy and strong.
May we live with ease.
May we love and accept ourselves just as we are, no parts left out.
Feel free to add your own words of blessing. Remember to hold your own heart throughout the day.
