Day 14 - Week 2 Metta Summary

Mindfulness and metta (lovingkindness) go hand in hand in my meditation practice. Today is an opportunity to review the topics introduced in the second week, check out a day you missed, or spend more time with a practice that resonates with you.


May we be safe. May we be whole. May we be happy.


The wing of mindfulness opens the mind. The wing of metta opens the heart.


Send waves to those in need from the ocean of compassion.


Sometimes the present moment is difficult.


Expand attention from the body to the sense of self and beyond.


Move from the head to the heart.


Day 14 - Summary

Always a challenge to remain open-hearted in the face of suffering, hurt, and pain, the practice of lovingkindness provides a way to connect in an increasingly divided world.


Practice Options

  • Show lovingkindness to yourself by making time for self-care today.

  • Show lovingkindness to a loved one by reaching out with a text, a phone call, a letter, or a visit.

  • Show lovingkindness to a neutral person by sharing a wave, a smile, or a word of appreciation.

  • Show lovingkindness to a difficult person by figuring out some small way to create an opening

  • Show lovingkindness to all beings everywhere by listening to this poem.
